The landscape has always been my focus, particularly in response to weathered and windswept parts of the country, be they in Orkney where I grew up, or Zimbabwe where I have spent most of my adult life.   As the winter season in Africa turns the greens to the golden colours then I feel a great need to attempt to translate into paint these bare landscapes into my impressions of the dusty images which excite me.
